Busy Week, Great Runs, and Two PBs

It’s been a busy week. so much so I haven’t been able to post about my mid week run until now. I started my 8 mile run about 20 minutes before sunset, because I was busy until then. But I was determined to get this run in. Decked out in bright running clothes, a reflective vest, and a red flasher I headed out. It was pretty good until about the 4 mile point and then it started getting really dark. The are few street lights where I live. I was running well and could tell that on coming traffic could see me by the way they were giving me plenty of room on the road. The main problem was not being able to see the road very well because of the darkness or being blinded by headlights. I was afraid I was going to step on a rock, stick, or hole and possible roll an ankle. Next time I go out that late, I’m going to wear my headlamp. All went well and I made it home safe and sound.

21 August 13 Run

Today, I got up to run my long run extra early, for me that is. Rolled out of bed at 6:40 and was on the road by about 7:30. This was going to be my longest run yet. It was 57 degrees and clear skies when I started. It was 72 by the time I got back just under 3 hours later. It was a very good run. I was just kind of cruising along and wasn’t even breathing hard. The hills I normally breath hard on seemed much flatter and easier than normal. I was surprised at the pace I ended up with.

24 August 13 Run

16 miles! A new personal best for longest distance which I was expecting. But what I wasn’t expecting was this.

24 August 13 PB Half Marathon

Another two and a half minutes off of my half marathon time.

I’m pretty pleased with both runs and am encouraged about the races I have coming up.

  1. Awesome job today! Keep up the hard work! I’m glad I came across your blog. It’s inspirational.

  2. Wow, great job! You’re truly an inspiration—- And definitely wear your head lamp—- because I rolled my ankle last fall and it fear still lives with me today— I am very cautious of watching the road ahead. Good luck to you!

What do you think about that?
