For my long run today I had 15 miles scheduled. So I got up a little after 8 and started getting ready. I didn’t get out of the house until nearly 10 though, unfortunately. Heading out felt pretty good and I was just running as comfortably as I could. This was supposed to be a Long Slow Distance run after all. I took the route that goes by the convenience stores so I could refill my water which I did at about mile 11. I also took four gels with me. I felt really good after I warmed up and was able to just truck along. At about 13.5 I started feeling pretty wiped though but I knew I was almost there. “One foot in front of the other, One foot in front of the other.” I sucked down my third gel and kept going. I was pretty exhausted by the time I finished but I did it without having to walk! (except when I refilled my water).
I’m really happy with my time for my first 15 mile run.
Tonight, after going back and looking at my stats I got a pleasant surprise.
Another Personal Best! This is VERY encouraging!
Well done, great effort. Keep it up.

Nice Run! Less than a month before ya halfy! Must be getting super exciting now!
Yes, and just a bit nervous. I’ve never run in a big race before.
You will do great! Looking forward to the race report! 🙂
Thank you! I’ll be sure to post it.
I found your blog when I clicked on the 15 mile tag on the blog entry I just posted. I too am doing my first full marathon (Philly in Nov) and blogging about it and just did my first 15 miler training run, also my longest run ever. I’m going to follow your blog and get inspiration from you since you will be doing yours one month ahead of me. Good luck! http://gojackie.wordpress.com/
Thanks! Good luck with the training and the Marathon!
