Wow, what a busy weekend. So much stuff to do I didn’t get to post but I did get to run. Saturday promised to be pretty horrible and it definitely lived up to the hype. I decided to wake up extra early (for me on a Saturday, that is) and got on the road by 8 am. Boy was it humid! It was almost like fog but hot. About 6 miles in, the sun came out and the hot fog seemed to turn right into steam. But I did get the whole 7 miles in.
Temp was 81 but the heat index was 94.
This was my first run the my new Pro Compression Marathon socks.
I like them. I think they actually kept by legs from feeling tired, especially from the knee down. The most surprising thing was how COOL they were. With as hot and humid as it was and the fact that they were black, they were much cooler than the dri-fit socks a normally wear. My whole body was dripping with sweat but my legs just seemed damp. I don’t know if it was a function of the compression, the material they were made of wicking away the sweat, the awesome ventilation properties, or a combination of all three, but it was very nice.
I have a 12 mile scheduled for next Saturday. I will be wearing them again then and see how they do. Initial impression is I want some more. They seem a bit pricey but they are having a sale until August 4th. See http://heatherrunsfast.com/2013/07/13/alarm-clocks-a-summer-dealio/ for details.
