Running Hot, Two More Times

Yesterday was really hot and humid again with a heat advisory and the heat index over 100. So I ran 5 miles. I waited until about 7:00 pm to start to be  the coolest without it being too dark.

17 July 13 Run

It wasn’t too bad. I stayed hydrated and kept an easy pace. Starting so late ment I was too late to post about it last night. By the time I cooled down, showered, and had eaten it was time for bed.

Today it was even hotter! So I ran 3 miles. This time waiting until almost 8:00 pm. I have a red flashing light I usually use in the winter months that I attached to my water bottle to help me stay visible with darkness falling.

18 July 13 Run

I stayed hydrated of course and I must be starting to get used to the heat because I was able to pick up the pace a bit.

This and the 5 miles from yesterday are what my training plan calls for. I’m going to run according to my training plan unless something extreme happens to keep me from it. So far I’m right on track with my training and plan to keep it that way.

I got some new stuff in the mail today and am really excited about it. A pair of Pro Compression Marathon socks I’ve been curious about and an Arm Pocket for my huge phone (GS3). I’m planning on wearing the socks on my long Saturday runs. If I like them, I’ll get some more. Thanks to Heather at for the info on the discount! I’m also happy to now have something to carry my phone in other than my hand. Carrying my phone in one hand and water bottle in the other was kind of a pain. The Arm Pocket is pretty awesome, I must say.

  1. I’m interested in the compression socks too. I hope they work! Great runs in the heat!

  2. Hi David,

Great job keeping up with your training program! I’m interested to hear how you like the compression socks. Also, what program are you using to track your runs? I really like the format and all of the information it provides!

What do you think about that?
